Originally developed in 1931 as an edible gum called Chewlets, Hi-Chew was officially introduced as a chewy and fruity candy in 1975 in Japan. To date, over 113 flavors have been created. Some flavors are unique to certain parts of Japan, like Hokkaido Yubari Melon. Others are more mainstream, like Cola.
Tropical bags contain the three most popolar tropical flavors, including two that are not available in stick form; Mango, Banana, and Melon.
